The barbecue is back on at the Boat Party this Wednesday (July 28th) on the ship Eastern Comfort, along with live music and many languages. The weekly language/international party brings together people of all ages from everywhere, and is known for its friendly atmosphere where it's easy to meet and talk with people in a variety of languages--I help with arranging language partners. Come early for that. The party starts at 7pm with my 5-star hummus. The Entry is one Euro until 8:30pm, after that two Euros (the extra Euro to pay the band). FU & HU international club and ERASMUS students (with valid ID) get in free.
The BARBECUE (weather allowing) includes the traditional meats along with chicken, some vegetables, potatoes, cheese and salad. The different plates are on sale at various low prices.

This week the band "Scherz & Shine" will be performing folk and soulful classics. Their concert will begin around 10pm.
Last week another party of around 100 persons spread over the boat and in the park. A good chance to speak Spanish, French, English, Romanian, Russian, Polish and German, as well as Chinese, Italian and a few exotic languages. The weather should be nice this Wednesday. Come early for the best chance to meet people.

The ship is a 5-10 minute walk from Warschauerstr. U-Bahn/S-Bahn/Tram down Warschauerstr. toward the Oberbaumbrücke. Just before the bridge turn right onto Mühlenstr., and the Eastern Comfort entrance is about 100 meters down the street (Mühlenstr. 73, Berlin, 10243) near the beginning of the Eastside Gallery. | Sony Center World Languages Party

The next World Languages Party will be Friday, August 6 at the Sony Center Cinestar bar (Potsdamer Platz) with a concert by the REBECCA OLMSTED band (www.myspace.com/rebeccaolmsted). All are welcome. About 150 persons were at the May party. The open party is known for bringing together people of all ages from everywhere on the globe in an atmosphere of live music and many languages. Tables for Spanish and French speaking. Iinternational club members and ERASMUS students (with valid ID) get in free. The IFS Language School also participates, bringing persons from all over the world who are learning German. Enjoy the concert and mix in the international crowd. The party starts at 20:00. The admission is just 3€ and includes a welcome drink.

| Creative Writing Course
A new course is forming for persons interested in writing short or long fiction, memoirs, narrative non-fiction or screenplays. The course takes a workshop format modeled after those in US universities. Each meeting two students' works-in-progress are discussed as we try to make them better and learn and be inspired in the process. The atmosphere is casual, friendly, supportive and serious. The discussion aims for a high level and to be useful for writers in all stages of development. Except for special allowances, we'll work in English. The cost for the course is around 10€ per meeting, depending on the number of students. Persons are invited to sample the course before joining. We meet Tuesday evenings, 7pm, in a classroom in the IFS Language School near the S-Bahn Zoo. The next meeting is August 10. | English Conversation Group
For persons interested in brushing up their English: A conversation group meets Mondays in Prenzlauer Berg 7-9pm. The group is medium-to-advanced in level and usually 4 to 8 persons. Each week with some chatting and wine we get to a short article on an aspect of "culture." The cost is 10 Euro per meeting and drop-ins are welcome.
